About Our Charity

East End Health was established in 1982 as the Walker Health Project with the aim of tackling health inequalities in the east end of Newcastle. In 2001 the charity became known as the East End Community Health Project and more recently as East End Health. We now act as an umbrella organisation to a number of projects set up to tackle health inequalities.

Currently we work in communities across Newcastle and North Tyneside. The primary outcome of East End Health's future work in Newcastle is to:

Reduce health inequalities by bringing life expectancy and premature mortality in Newcastle to the level of the rest of the country.

To achieve this outcome, East End Health aims to:

• Tackle health inequalities
• Reduce obesity
• Improve mental health and emotional well-being.
